Brief history of The BettyFlies Foundation:
In early 2019 the idea was proposed to Suzanne Pfister that the new Aspen Aircraft Terminal be named after national and Roaring Fork Valley aviation icon, Betty Haas Pfister. It was through Betty’s efforts that the Aspen Control Tower, the Aspen Valley Hospital Heliport, the Pitkin County Air Rescue Group and the Snowmass Balloon Race all came to fruition. Quickly realizing that the upcoming airport was a long way from completion, Suzanne began to explore how she could support aviation endeavors in the valley in the meantime. Once she recognized that the mission of BettyFlies was not just about the naming of a new Aircraft Terminal, The BettyFlies Foundation was born. The nonprofit both strengthens the legacy of Betty Haas Pfister and recognizes the power of aviation to inspire and motivate young people.
Thanks to your generous donations, The BettyFlies Foundation matched $100,000 in funds for the Aspen Flight Academy’s “Every Student Flies” program, which debuted at the Aspen High School in the fall of 2019.
Your contributions also supported five aviation scholarships (valued at $12,000 each) for 2019-2020 Aspen High School students.
Every dollar donated funds aviation-inspired endeavors that encourage young people to develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Please help us stay in the air and meet our 2021 funding goals!
$120,000 for ten aviation scholarships for local high school students (value $12,000 each)
$30,000 for additional programming and operations support
$50,000 for one STEM-related collegiate scholarship at Aspen High School
We greatly appreciate any contribution, no matter the amount. Much like Betty in her many enterprises, we have lofty aspirations!
No act of generosity is too small.
